New York Sea Grant (NYSG) supports a range of efforts aimed at supporting the sustainable development of the seaweed sector in New York and beyond. These initiatives include coordinating the NY Seaweed Processing and Marketing Task Force, leading a Seaweed Food Safety Training Workgroup, participating in regional and national seaweed collaborations, and leading the development of educational and regulatory resources for producers and consumers.

Since January 2021, New York Sea Grant (NYSG) has worked with industry, academic, and regulatory partners to address challenges in seaweed production, processing, and marketing. These collaborations have resulted in the development of practical resources to help producers navigate regulations and bring safe, high-quality products to market.

This webpage serves as a centralized resource for NYSG’s seaweed-related materials, offering guidance, tools, and information to support stakeholders throughout the seaweed value chain.
